The short answer

What's different about this job in the Tri-Cities
The single most common renovation mistake we get called in to correct is drain venting. When a fixture is moved a couple of metres and the vent is not extended or re-tied properly, the trap siphons dry every time the fixture is used — and a dry trap is an open pipe between your bathroom and the sewer. It smells, it fails inspection, and it is very cheap to do correctly at rough-in and very expensive to fix through finished tile. If your renovation involves moving anything that drains, this is the detail to get right first.

When in the renovation should the plumber come?
Twice. Once at rough-in, after demolition and framing but before insulation and drywall, and once at finish, after tile and cabinets. Booking both slots at the start keeps your schedule intact — rough-in has to be inspected before anything gets covered.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom renovation in Coquitlam?
If you are altering, adding, or relocating plumbing, yes. A like-for-like fixture swap in the same location generally does not need one. We confirm with the municipality before quoting so the permit is in the price rather than a surprise.
Can you work with my contractor or designer?
Yes, and it goes better when we are involved early. A five-minute conversation at the layout stage often saves relocating a stack later.
